Charm Bracelet Diva's Word of the Week: Torsade

December 17, 2009

I was intrigued by this word, and despite six years of studying French, I had no idea what it meant.  So I looked it up.

  • TORSADE:  Torsades or Torsades de pointes is a French term that means literally "twisting of the points."
  • Essentially it means a necklace of many strands twisted together, typically pearls.
If I were better at this I would post a photo from the web illustrating what I mean, but I think you get the picture.  We've all seen those gorgeous multi-strand twisted pearl necklaces.  Perhaps even coveted them, lol.  I know I have.  And what prompted me to look it up was a Ross-Simons catalog where they had a great deal on a Brown Cultured Pearl Torsade.  I love it!  A 20'' necklace is only $39.95, discounted from $129.95!  It really is gorgeous.  And hugely in style.  You can also find it at Ross-Simons.com.  Perhaps it's not too late to add it to your wishlist?  Oh, and if anyone has any tips on how to create a torsade necklace, please let me know!

On another note, mixed media artist Lani Kent, featured previously by me in another blog post, is having a special Art Blessing Christmas Giveaway.  Two lucky winners will be chosen on Christmas Day.  Check out her blog at www.artistlanikent.blogspot.com for details.

Time to wrap some gifts....ciao for now.
