Hello and welcome back to another edition of the Junk Revision challenge! This month we were challenged to come up with a storage/organizational solution using something repurposed. And I knew right away what I would use!
As a vintage lover, I tend to pick up odds and ends at flea markets, estate sales, barn sales --you name it—without even knowing what I’ll do with my purchases. I just know that I will find a use for them, some day. That’s what happened when I picked up my first vintage tart tins. They were just so darn cute and shiny! (I also have some that really show their age.)
Now, have I used them to bake tarts? Uh, no. (Even though I do love baking!) But I have come up with a great alternate use for them. As a vintage jewelry designer I always have tons of bits and bobs that I need to keep organized on my work table. And these tins fit the bill perfectly. I love all the different shapes and sizes. Once I had acquired a good number of tart tins I expanded my collection with other vintage metal containers. Some may be jello molds, or just small loaf pans. Either way, I make good use of them all.
Next up is a “pan” that I picked up at Salvation Army a few months back. I first introduced it in Friday Finds #17: Vintage Edition. I had no idea what it was used for, although it did say “Made in France” on it. So I did a bit of research. Turns out that it’s a…..wait for it……escargot pan! Yuk. (No offense intended to all you escargot-lovers out there!) I know I consider myself a Francophile, but I draw the line at escargot. I certainly had no need for an escargot pan, but I did have a need for another jewelry organizer. And voila!
Last but not least, I’ve also been using vintage cupcake tins to organize my jewelry as well. I use all these vintage finds on my work table, but you can certainly use them on your dresser, vanity, or even in your drawers. And they can hold not only jewelry but coins, small cosmetics, hair accessories or general crafting supplies as well.
I have to share something funny. Last week when my Country Living magazine was delivered I poured over it as I always do and guess what I found? Take a look.
This is a scanned page from their January/February 2016 edition. The article is entitled “The Antique Lover’s Guide to Organizing.” Yup. I’m in good company. Or should I say great minds think alike?
I hope I’ve given you some good ideas that you can put to use in your every day life. And if you like my ideas I’m sure you’ll like my talented blogger friends’ repurposed organizational ideas as well. Be sure to stop by their links below!
