How To Add Vintage Flair To A Round Wooden Farmhouse Mirror

A few months ago I created a preliminary farmhouse mood board with three items I wanted to see in my newly renovated French modern farmhouse living room. One of those things was a round wooden mirror. I'm happy to report that I did indeed purchase a round wooden mirror and today I'm going to share it with you. I'm also sharing how I used it to create more of a focal point on the wall by adding a simple vintage farmhouse find into the mix.

This post contains affiliate links. A purchase of any one of these items helps to support this blog and its creative efforts at no cost to you. To read more, please see my disclosure page.

Here is the original mood board with my wished-for farmhouse mirror, farmhouse wooden sign and gray pom pom throw.

And here's my actual wooden farmhouse mirror!

I absolutely love how it looks in the space where we hung it. I had the exact space in mind all along, and I was happy to find out that I made the right choice. Hanging things on the walls makes me nervous! I mean, once the nails are in, all bets are off -- so you'd better be sure it's what you want (and where you want it!) Do you ever feel that way?

I loved this particular mirror for a number of reasons: 1. It was on clearance at Hobby Lobby so I got it for $15.00. 2. The thick rope and knots add both a rustic and nautical feel at the same time. 3. The iron "cage" effect in the front adds a bit of industrial into the mix. I love it!

While it certainly looks fabulous hanging all by its lonesome, I added some vintage farmhouse flair to it with a simple bouquet of fresh cut farmhouse flowers in a vintage milk bottle "vase."

The flowers bring such a lovely pop of color to the mirror. It's hard for me to look at it without smiling.

I'm quite partial to my vintage milk bottle collection, and this particular bottle is a favorite. It's from the old Fairview Farm Dairy in Dixon, IL.

The metal cage provides a perfect safety net for items I might want to place behind it. Right now it's flowers. Who knows what'll be next?

The juxtaposition of the rustic wood, rope and flowers creates such a beautiful combination.

I got this rustic wall hook at Big Lots for $8.00. It came already attached to the wood plaque behind it and I knew when I saw it that it would be perfect for my heavy wooden farmhouse mirror. I think the wood complements the mirror beautifully. If you don't have a Big Lots nearby you can always order this rustic coat hook online.

I think it fits well in the space we chose. I like that you can see it as you come down the stairs (hidden on your right). And we all know using mirrors is one way to add some light to a room -- which I'm always looking for in this house!

Well, that's it until next time, friends!

Love your new mirror--and the bargain element, too. Doubling flowers in a mirror is a great idea, too! Can't wait to see what you do with the mirror for the holidays!
