Thrill of the Hunt #92

Welcome, friends, to another fun-filled Thrill of the Hunt post where I share my latest thrifty (and mostly) vintage finds with you. I'm excited to get started so here goes!

When I was younger, I believed that lidded glass hen candy dishes were very old fashioned. Now I love them! I picked this one up at Goodwill after months of looking. I honestly never thought I'd find one at Goodwill. Usually you can find them in antique malls or online but I didn't want to pay an inflated price. Luckily this one was only $2.99. There's no name or maker's mark on the bottom, but I'm okay with that. I think it's probably from the 1960's.

The carnival glass has an almost rainbow quality to it.

And I really love the detail of the feathers and the nest, as well as the basket weave pattern on the bowl itself.

Not only do they make great candy dishes -- you can use them as butter dishes, and I've even seen people fill them with melted wax to make DIY candles -- which I am definitely going to try. So be on the look out for that project, hopefully this fall.

I've been a farmhouse decor fan for a few years now, so when I saw this vintage, or near-vintage, hand painted cow creamer at Goodwill I  knew he was coming home with me. I already have the traditional white cow creamer, but this? Fabulous!

On the bottom it says "320 Berardos Hand Painted Made In Portugal SEC XVII (18th century)" followed by what look like initials but I can't quite make them out. 

I paid $1.99 for it. Later I saw it on eBay with an asking price of $27.95 and on Etsy for $22.00. I'll be placing it in my farmhouse cabinet along with some of my ironstone collection for now. As usual, its placement is subject to change. 

I fell in love with this rustic corrugated tin container and snapped it up at Goodwill for $1.99. 

While I've seen similar things at stores like Hobby Lobby, I believe this one is actually the real deal -- in other words, it was not necessarily made to be used for decor. Who knows what its real purpose was? But I think my velvet pumpkins look very much at home in it.

While the pumpkins look great, I know I can use the container in other ways. Perhaps I'll fill it with dried hydrangeas or fresh flowers. I can also fill it with some moss balls or a pretty plant, either live or faux. 

But right now I'm happy with the pumpkins as filler. Who knows what tomorrow will bring?
