Thrill of the Hunt #68

April 23, 2018

Welcome back to Thrill of the Hunt #68! It's been many weeks since the last TOTH post. Life has been hectic. But with the end of the school year looming large, I'm hoping that our days will start to take on more of a relaxed feel rather than the stress and busyness we're all feeling right now. In the meantime, without further ado, let's get started!

Does anyone remember Precious Moments? I was never a collector, but they still seem to be around and people still seem to be collecting them! There are figurines, bells, piggy banks, music boxes, vases, bowls, candle sticks -- the list goes on and on. Precious Moments was started by two men in 1970's California. I never knew their premise was a Christian theme. There's even a Precious Moments theme park (with a chapel!) in Carthage City, MO that that welcomes 400,000 visitors a year (according to the current Precious Moments website). Wow. Who knew?

Here's their "Forever Mine" bud vase.

It has a boy and girl angel sitting with their backs up against each other and the words "Forever Mine" printed beneath them.

The original gold foil label is still on the bottom: Enesco Designed Giftware Japan.

I  love the subtle gilding touches. It would be perfect for a baby or wedding shower, or even a Valentine's gift. Forever Mine Precious Moments bud vase is AVAILABLE.

Vintage Niagara Falls Canada Teapot Salt Pepper Shakers cork stoppers

Now we're talking kitsch. Niagara Falls teapot salt and pepper shakers.

Have you ever been there? We took a family vacation there a few years ago and I have to say that the falls are absolutely gorgeous!

The gilding shows a little wear and tear which is to be expected with vintage items.

Otherwise they're in pretty good shape.

It's interesting to note that these are from the Canada side of the falls. There's also a New York side. In all honesty I have to say that we stayed in a fabulous hotel on the Canada side and the view was spectacular. Prices were astronomical but it really was an experience of a lifetime.

The corks do leave a bit to be desired, though. I don't believe the shakers have ever been used, but the corks are so old that they have begun to disintegrate. You can actually buy new cork stoppers online for all your vintage salt and pepper shakers.  They even come in different cork sizes. I believe the fact that the stoppers are cork and not plastic make these definitely of the vintage persuasion. Niagara Falls Teapot Salt and Pepper Shaker are AVAILABLE.

Vintage Avon Cotillion Cream Sachet empty frosted glass jar blue pink gold lid

You've probably picked up on the fact that I've begun to amass quite a vintage Avon perfume bottle collection. This cream sachet jar is the latest addition.

It's Avon's Cotillion Cream Sachet in a frosted glass jar.

The jar is long empty but you can still smell the scent of the perfume. I'm sure it would bring back memories for someone!

I love the pink rimmed jar and the gold accents. I think it would be lovely as decor in a vintage-themed bathroom, or in a vignette on a dresser. Avon Cotillion Cream Sachet is AVAILABLE

Vintage Napcoware Japan turkey thanksgiving creamer sugar bowl set

My husband and I recently attended the Kane County Flea Market in St. Charles, Illinois. It's one of the best flea markets in the country. And wouldn't you know I lucked out at an "Everything is 50 cents!" table. I couldn't believe that I found this Napco Turkey-patterned sugar bowl and creamer, all for $1.00. The details of the turkeys and ornate handles are lovely.

And here's the original Napco foil label that says Napcoware Import Japan and the stamp on the bottom of the creamer that says "C-9041." I asked their age in an online forum and an expert stated that they were made in the late 1950's to early 1960's.

I like how they look sitting in front of a vintage printable I have on the fireplace right now. In this picture they look to be an almost creamy color, but they're actually white.

These would be great for a Thanksgiving dinner table! Napco turkey-patterned sugar bowl and creamer are SOLD.

Well, that's it until next time, friends!

I like your treasures, but I'm not sure which ones I like best! I have great memories of Niagara Falls too. We went there on our honeymoon & then again at our 10th Anniversary.

Great buy on the cream & sugar! I miss flea markets--that's one thing we don't have in my area ;)

Great finds! Loved the sugarer and creamer. Hit my first yard sale this weekend; it was COLD but I managed to have a good time!
