Dollar Tree Treasures #7: Christmas Steals

Dollar Tree stores are a great go-to spot for many DIY home decor enthusiasts on a budget. Seeing as that's the story of my life, I figured I could share my Dollar Tree insider knowledge with you as I find new and noteworthy Dollar Tree items that you, too, can use to beautify your home. Dollar Tree Treasures #7 includes some of my favorite Dollar Tree Christmas items -- so let's get started!

wooden Christmas sign faux shiplap pine trees

I've always been a fan of  Dollar Tree's seasonal signs and wall art. And this small wooden Christmas sign is no exception. I love the look of shiplap.

white plastic storage bin Christmas trees bottle brush trees

Attractive storage is a real problem for many of us. We have so much STUFF, but where do we put it? Dollar Tree is selling many cute plastic boxes and bins to store our Christmas essentials in. This plastic tub is so cute I actually put some bottle brush trees in it and may just use it as decor until after the holiday -- when I'll fill it with Christmas crafting odds and ends.

plastic Christmas storage box Merry & Bright door sign

I got another lidded storage box from Dollar Tree (not shown) and this cute one from Dollar General, along with this adorable mini farmhouse Merry & Bright ornament. All of the storage pieces can also be used as containers for delivering baked goods or even as gift packaging!

Another category that Dollar Tree excels in is gift wrapping options. This year they have a ton of cute wrapping paper, more than I remember them ever having, as well as their usual gift bags in all shapes and sizes. You can even use their Christmas gift bags to create wall art!

Joy Deer Santa cardboard books gift boxes

But why stop there? They also carry gift boxes. Some are of the every-day-shirt-box variety, while others are unique and more specialized. Like this set of three "books" I picked up. Unbelievably cute, they're sturdy cardboard boxes with attached lids that lift open, and they're sporting cool retro artwork on the "spines" as seen above, and "covers"!

Here they are from one side, showing their "pages."

Santas Reindeer retro book cover Christmas gift box

I fell in love with this "book" called "Santa's Reindeer" the moment I laid eyes on it.

Tis the Season To Be Jolly cardboard book gift box

"Book" number two -- "Tis the Season to Be Jolly"-- has a vintage snowman with a top hat and a broom on the cover. The retro font and artwork, again, are fabulous.

'Twas the Night Before Christmas Dollar Tree Christmas gift box

Last but not least is the "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" book box. I remember this book fondly from my childhood, and always bring out at least one copy around the holidays. The boxes come in two sizes, small and large. I bought the larger ones, measuring  approximately 6" x 2.5" x 2.5".  I'll probably use them as decor this year, sitting on a shelf, and next year I'll use them as actual gift boxes.

Dollar Tree retro Airstream camper Christmas ornaments white bottle brush trees

Christmas ornaments are a Dollar Tree holiday staple item. I've bought many an ornament from them over the years, most of which I still use today. This year, though, I limited myself (gasp) since we have SO many ornaments. Since they were super cute I did allow myself to purchase this set of sparkly, silver retro Airstream camper ornaments. The mini bottle brush tree ornaments are from Wal-Mart. I used them in one of my DIY retro Christmas shadow box projects.

I thought this silver sleigh ornament was really sweet. It had just the right amount of vintage charm. I envisioned using it as part of a Christmas craft.

Eat Drink and Be Merry window cling Christmas decor cocoa bar

Window clings have become a hot item over the past few years, but they were never really on my radar. Until this year, that is. These Eat, Drink and Be Merry window clings were what brought me over to the dark side. I mean, how cute are they? Last year I created a fun Hot Cocoa Station and would love to have had some of these cute clings to spread around the glass front doors on my farmhouse hutch.

Peace Joy Believe tin galvanized script words craft supplies

This is not the first time I've found galvanized metal script seasonal words at Dollar Tree. Last year at Thanksgiving I picked up a set of the words Welcome, Harvest and Thankful. I painted the word "Thankful" and used it to embellish my DIY Fall Fern Wreath. This year the words are Peace, Joy and Believe. I can see myself doing the same thing by painting one of the words (red, maybe?) and using it to embellish a Christmas wreath.

  4. Loved the book boxes: haven't seen them here in Maine. I'm afraid I couldn't part with them! I love making small dollhouse-type scenes in them. Today I used the recessed back of a wooden box with a pumpkin(Half off at Dollar General--not a dollar store) (with my daughter's new last initial on it) to make a small winter scene with glitter, 2 BBtrees, a plastic horse (her passion), and a snowman--reversible decor!
