Pottery Barn-Inspired Book Bundles

deconstructed paper back books twine bows

I've been loving these deconstructed book bundles for quite some time, but I didn't want to pay for them. I also knew I could make them myself, it was just a matter of actually getting around to doing the project. Well, today's the day and it's super simple to recreate.

They're simple vintage.  I love that. All you need are some thrift store books and some jute twine.

Having been an English major in college, at first I was afraid to rip the covers off.  But once I started it was pretty easy.  Here are mine after I went to town on them.

I chose to go with three, rather than four books.  I just thought it looked better.

Enter the twine, a la Dollar General. And voila.

In doing some research on these little beauties I found out that books are used in oh-so-many ways to decorate.  In this case, I guess you could say it's book-as-relic decorating (I read that somewhere and thought it sounded impressive). I just love that I could recreate this look for so much less than retail price!

These look fantastic! I actually did laugh out loud while in PB when I saw the asking price. Uh...NO because I know talented creative people who can do this for a fraction of the cost. Happy weekend!

Beautiful creative idea! Love Pottery Barn too but prices are rather extreme on some things--thank you for sharing this awesome idea!

I just bought 3 and am ready to rip 'em up... I understand the hesitation, though. I am an English teacher!!!

Ok, I am definitely going to be copying! Probably even have some books laying around - so free project!! Gotta love that.

Very nice. I like the tough textured look and the colorful spine on the center book. I'll have to go check out that book site.
