Welcome to the Blogland Tour!

July 28, 2014

Not long ago I was invited by my talented friend, Betsy, from My Salvaged Treasures, to participate in a blog tour. Considering the invite came from Betsy, I just had to say yes! You see, Betsy and I go way back, and she has been a mentor of sorts for me over the years. For starters, she is an incredible jewelry designer.

As well as a fabulous re-purposer of all things vintage.

 I truly treasure her friendship.
You can see her incredible work on her blog and in her Etsy shop
You can also find her on Facebook where she has over 25,000 Likes!
(Yes, I got the zeros right.)
Thanks for inviting me, Betsy!

For my portion of the tour I have to answer 4 questions, so you get to learn a little bit about me. And I get to introduce you to a blogger that I admire and believe that you should get to know, too!

1. What am I working on right now?

Well, on any given day you never know what I might be working on. It could be jewelry.  Or it could be a DIY knock-off.  Or maybe I just decided to paint something. Right now the home decor projects have pretty much been put on hold since the house is up for sale.  A thrifted hall mirror/coatrack has been calling my name, though.  Everything looks better with a little white paint, don't you think?

2. How does my work differ from others in this genre?

Well, as far as my jewelry goes, I'd like to think that I bring a je ne sais quoi to my vintage designs.

Many pieces I create have a story behind them, a story that reveals a saintly life or a revered icon of the church. But I also make some pieces that are an eclectic mix of vintage religious medals as well as other vintage charms that tell their own story. You can read about my creative process here. I enjoy having an Etsy shop, Love You More Designs, where I can express myself and offer my vintage jewelry for sale. There's nothing like having someone buy your jewelry, put it on and say, "I love it!"

In addition to my jewelry creations, I love to revive found objects that have been either discarded or put up for sale ~ whether it be by thrift store, estate sale, flea market, etc.

This collection of vintage milk bottles (and the vintage crate they're in) was picked up by the side of the road near my house.  Along with the awesome rustic table they're sitting on!

3. Why do I write/create what I do?

I'm a hopeless junker at heart. There, I said it. The thrill of the hunt keeps me going. I've been creative for as long as I can remember, and I was an English major in college. Need I say more?

4. How does my writing/creative process work?

I wish I could say that I had a foolproof plan for keeping up with this blog. But I can't. As much as I would like to make it a full time job, my family comes first. But that doesn't mean that I'm not constantly coming up with ideas to post about. Or perusing the latest Restoration Hardware catalogs to get inspiration for a thrifty re-do. Or reading updates from all the blogs in my blog reader that bring me inspiration every day.

Now I'd like to introduce you to a unique and talented blogger I think you should get to know.  Her blogland tour post will go live next Monday, on August 4th. In the meantime, why don't you drop by and say hello?
