Thrifting For Vintage Finds: Thrill of the Hunt #77

October 22, 2018

Thrifting for vintage finds is my passion and I love sharing what I've found with you in my Thrill of the Hunt posts. There really is something to be said for finding a great estate sale and then coming across some cool collectibles or something you've been waiting for a lifetime to find. In this Thrill of the Hunt I'm going to be sharing some recent finds from my favorite local, seasonal pop-up estate sale. I know that many times I've said that I hit the jackpot there but this time I really mean it.

I have been wanting a cable knit pillow for a long time. Like since I first saw one from  Pottery Barn a few years ago. Obviously the price tag was prohibitive, so no go. Then I recently came across this absolutely pristine gem at a pop-up estate sale and said heck yeah!

I mean, seriously, what do you think? $4.00? You absolutely can not beat that price. And even though it looked pristine I still took out the insert, replaced it with an insert I already had and washed the cover. Brand. new. pillow. I'm happy as a clam with it. Can you say hygge?

The next find is a large, lidded willow ottoman basket I got for $5.00. It's huge, the picture doesn't do it justice.  I've been a basket person for the past 30 years -- well before there were super expensive Pottery Barn baskets. I actually collected a fair number of Longaberger baskets (thanks to my husband) over the years back when country style decor was actually country style and not farmhouse style as it seems to have morphed into today. Don't get me wrong -- I am a genuine farmhouse style enthusiast today.

And here is a chippy, shabby vintage baluster I also picked up for $6.00. The price was a bit steep for me but I've seen them go for a lot more so I knew I should grab it.

I collect ironstone, and when I saw this pitcher I held my breath. Then when I saw that it was selling for $5.00 I exhaled. While I realized it was not necessarily vintage, I knew it would seamlessly fit in with all my other ironstone pieces.

I was blown away by the distinct and unique details.

Such pretty embellishments! I also loved that it was an I. Godinger and Co. pitcher that is currently selling for around $30.00. I bought it for $5.00.

I believe two out of my four estate sale finds are vintage -- the basket and the baluster. Either way they're all thrifty, and that's what counts. Because as much as I love vintage finds I do have to draw the line when it comes to prices. I actually scored three more items from this estate sale that I'll be sharing with you in Thrill of the Hunt #78, so stay tuned!

Well, that's it until next time, friends!

Loved your treasures. I'm a basket lover, too. My last name used to be O'Malley and I kept a love for all things Irish; my late m-i-l could knit Irish knit sweaters without a pattern! Some of my favorite housework music is Irish--the old sea chanties are great for vacuuming/floor swabbing! We did a day trip to one of my favorite places on Fri. Unwrapping them Sat. a.m. was like Christmas morning!

That pillow is my fave. I too love looking at pottery barn things and then making them or finding them for cheap!

Great score on the pillow. I love a bargain too. I think I might cover a pillow with an old sweater to get that look too. Happy Fall, Kippi
