20 Quotes For DIY Hand-Stamped Christmas Book Bundles

Creating hand stamped book bundles is an inexpensive, quick and easy way to make a decor statement any time of year. I've made them before -- How To Make Hand-Stamped Book Bundles -- but I thought I'd try my hand at more of a Christmas-themed book bundle this time. My original attempt didn't turn out like I thought it would, so I tried again and thankfully, two times was the charm. I'll be sharing both the fail and the success in order to give you the best advice I have for making your very own hand-stamped Christmas (or anytime) book bundles. I'll also be sharing my 20 favorite Christmas book bundle quotes to use.

You can find used paperback books at Goodwill and other thrift stores, usually for mere pennies. For the best results I like to choose 3 similarly-sized books in both overall size as well as thickness.

The next step is to choose a quote. Originally I wanted to use one from my favorite movie, It's A Wonderful Life: " Every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings." Unfortunately, the quote was just too long to fit based on the size of the first set of books I was using and the size of my rubber stamps! After going back to the drawing board I came up with a few more Christmas-themed sayings:

  • Oh come all ye faithful
  • Merry and Bright
  • Have yourself a merry little Christmas
  • Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow
  • Here comes Santa Claus
  • Oh come let us adore Him
  • O holy night
  • Away in a manger
  • You'd better not pout
  • Twas the night before Christmas
  • Believe in the magic of Christmas
  • It's a wonderful life
  • Joy to the world
  • Farmhouse Christmas
  • Jingle all the way
  • Walking in a winter wonderland
  • Every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings
  • Peppermint everything
  • Home for the holidays
  • Deck the halls
My list of Christmas quotes is made up of mostly Christmas hymn lyrics, mainstream Christmas song lyrics and traditional Christmas movie or book quotes. But you can go in any direction you'd like with this -- I've seen many a Christmas book bundle sporting humorous quotes from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. I had a really hard time choosing! The first time around I chose "Oh come let us adore Him."

My big idea for this Christmas bundle was to embellish it with glitter. I always say you can never have too much glitter! Unfortunately, it didn't work out as planned and I ended up with clumps of glitter rather than the "dusting" that I had envisioned. I was disappointed, but went back to the drawing board and was much happier with the second result. (I did love the way the words turned out, though. Sigh.)

Word to the wise: if you think you'd like to try your hand at using glitter for this project, go sparingly with both the Mod Podge (sponged over the book spines and top cover) and the glitter. And be sure that the glitter is super fine! I thought the gold glitter was super fine like my silver glitter was, but by the time I found out it wasn't it was too late. Hence the clumps. Live and learn.

My second set of paperbacks was not exactly all the same size, but it's what I had on hand so I went with it.

I'm big on pops of red in my Christmas decor this year, so I chose this farmhouse red and white striped ribbon for tying them all up in a bundle.

I stayed with the favorite movie theme and used the name of my favorite movie, It's a Wonderful Life, as my quote. I do know that the "It's" should have an apostrophe, but I don't have any apostrophe stamps and I didn't want to use a Sharpie and risk messing it up again! The letters aren't all straight or even equally spaced out. But that's the beauty of DIY farmhouse. It doesn't have to be perfect!

Flocked juniper sprays with berries were placed on top and tucked inside the ribbon.

I was sorry I had to give up on the glitter, but I really love how this one turned out. But I also really wanted to see how it would look with my black and white buffalo check ribbon. So . . . . . . .

Here it is. Same books. Just different ribbon and embellishments.

I decided to leave it this way for now. I can always change out the ribbon and embellishments each year depending on my overall Christmas decor. But I'm sure it'll stay on the mantel for the rest of the holidays.

  2. Merry Christmas to you and yours. We had a lovely holiday with my daughter and family on Christmas Eve after church, then dinner with Al's family at "The Farm" today. I love "Jesus is the reason for the season." I have a little wooden box sign I got last year that I love--not for book edges, just for the giggle."Some fat man broke into my house, stole my cookies, and left me socks!" I tend to buy almost everyone socks for Christmas! I liked your list very much. I don't have letters big enough with the serifs (yet); my modern chunky letters just wouldn't make it!
