Farmhouse Mantel Easter Decor

March 11, 2020

DIY Easter decor doesn't have to be expensive or difficult to make. As an avid Dollar Tree shopper, I can totally attest to that statement. In today's post I'll be sharing how I gussied up some simple Dollar Tree galvanized buckets and turned them into farmhouse mantel Easter decor.

I got the idea for this project from my Thrifty Chicks' monthly challenge theme: canisters, pails and buckets. (Be sure to visit my friends' projects at the bottom of this post as well!) I've had these galvanized buckets from Dollar Tree since last year, just waiting to be able to use them in a project. While I didn't actually perform a makeover on the buckets, I did transform them into colorful, fresh and fun farmhouse mantel Easter decor.

It was such a simple project to pull together. First I placed faux plants into each of the buckets to fill them up and add a support for the carrots.

I picked the carrots up at Dollar Tree as well. I was really impressed with their cuteness and quality. I mean, orange jute-wrapped carrots? Who could resist? Adorable! I first shared them in my recent post Dollar Tree Treasures #8: Easter Goodies.

The cute white ceramic bunny on the left was also a Dollar Tree purchase. Again, I shared that find in Dollar Tree Treasures #8. I actually used two of them in this vignette, one on each side of the grouping.

I already had the three white ceramic bunnies placed in the middle of the grouping between the two buckets.

I thought all five of them went quite well together, creating an adorable bunny rabbit family of five.

The white farmhouse wood bead garland with tassel was another one of my DIY projects.

The hoop wreath was a thrift store find I've transformed for various holidays, Easter obviously included. You can see it decorated for Spring, Christmas and Valentine's Day. For Easter, I kept the buffalo check bow from Christmas on top, and added three felt buffalo check carrots I picked up at Wal-Mart for a song. Then I just stuck four of the Dollar Tree carrots here and there into the wreath and voila.

Whether it's from Dollar Tree or your local thrift store, there's definitely inexpensive containers of all types out there that you can use to create your own DIY Easter decor.

As much as I love how they look with carrots, after the Easter season is over I can see filling the buckets with colorful seed packets and garden tools, making them into more of a generic spring decor statement. While I purchased these buckets at some point last year, I know many Dollar Tree stores are still selling them. I could also see trying to age them to give them even more a convincing vintage farmhouse look. Maybe I'll try that project next!

Well, that's it until next time, friends!

You've incorporated all my favorite things this time of year here, Kathleen: galvanized, carrots and greenery. Love the Peter Rabbit gardeny vibe you created!

Enjoyed your mantel. So jealous I could not find the carrots at my local DT! 5 bunnies sounds like a nice-sized family!
