4 Ways to Decorate A Fake Naked Christmas Cake

November 21, 2022

Today I'm sharing 4 ways to decorate a fake naked Christmas cake.

My first venture into creating faux food was when I made a DIY fake naked cake

Since I made it in the spring I decorated it with gorgeous faux peony stems. I couldn't have been happier with the result.

Making the fake naked cake piqued my interest in the faux food world, which led me to create my faux Valentine mug toppers.

I loved the Valentine's mug toppers so much that I recreated them as faux whipped cream Christmas mug toppers.

And last but not least, it seemed to me that the next logical step on my fake naked cake journey was to decorate my fake naked for Christmas! And since the fake naked cake was already made, it was that much easier for me. While doing research for fake Christmas cakes, I fell in love with a number of decorating styles -- classic, vintage-inspired, farmhouse, rustic, you name it. So . . . . . I thought why not try to make a few different ones?

Fake Christmas Cake #1: Classic

Hands down, my favorite naked Christmas cake is the classic, less is more, style!

It was simple. All I did was add sugared faux berries and faux greens with pine cones along with some decorative gold faux berries to create the look.

I had fun styling the tablescape with the faux Christmas cake as well as with my DIY faux whipped cream Christmas mug toppers.

NOTE: Since I never glued the layers of my fake naked cake together, I was able to take them apart and insert the berries under the middle layer without any muss or fuss. It was that simple. It's also why I could create the other three styles below.

Fake Christmas Cake #2: Vintage-Inspired

Vintage loving gal that I am, I love using bottle brush trees around Christmas time. Honestly, I can't get enough. So I'm totally in love with this version of the fake Christmas cake.

I used mini green bottle brush trees to surround one of the layers, and then encircled the entire cake with vintage-inspired white bottle brush trees.

The "topper" is actually a Christmas ornament filled with bottle brish trees that I picked up at Wal-Mart last year. I also threw in a mini reindeer -- another one of my favorite Christmas craft supplies.

Fake Christmas Cake #3: Farmhouse Style

Two years ago I decorated a farmhouse Christmas tree and fell in love with all things buffalo check. Hence this fake cake topped with a buffalo check wrapped "gift."

The "gift" is actually an ornament.

It was easy enough to keep the mini bottle brush trees as festive and nostalgic trim.

Adding some red wooden beads really made the colors pop.

Overall I think the buffalo check accessories (table runner, placemats, large decorative gifts) helped to create a lovely, cohesive tablescape.

Fake Christmas Cake #4: Rustic

What could be more rustic than a pair of antlers? Okay, these antlers are gold and sparkly, but still . . . . .

Antlers make me think of hunting lodges and mountain cabins.

In light of the glittery gold component, I also added some more of those gorgeous gold berries into the mix. I love the simplicity of the greens, antlers and red wood bead garland for a pop of color.

While I love all four styles, I think the Classic is my favorite. How about you?

How clever of you not to glue the layers together! I can't pick a favorite, they are all beautiful. Hope you are recovering well from your surgery, my friend!
