Welcome to Thrifted vs Styled! Today's edition features Rose Medallion china, my newest collection of vintage butter pats, and mini brass salt cellar spoons.
Let's get started!
I recently started collecting Rose Medallion china, and was thrilled to pick up this mini plate at Goodwill for $2.99.
It's perfect for displaying along side my other Rose Medallion porcelain pieces.
Unlike many small porcelain pieces, it's not a saucer missing a tea cup -- it's actually a mini plate in and of itself. While my rose medallion dinner plate is 10" in diameter, the mini rose medallion plate is only 4.5" in diameter.
It's currently for sale on eBay for $49.00.
I shared the Rose Medallion dinner plate and egg cups, along with a brief history of Rose Medallion china, in Thrifted vs. Styled #151.
Second only to Rose Medallion porcelain (in my opinion) are vintage butter pats.
I've always loved them, but never saw them out in the wild.
That is, until I scored these five gorgeous vintage porcelain butter pats at an antique store in southern central Illinois.
Most butter pats I've seen in people's collections are made of plain ironstone. But these? They're decorated with painted florals, fluted edges and gilding!
Even better, all but one of them have a maker's mark from Europe: 1) Johnson Brothers (England), 2) none, 3) John Maddock & Sons (England);
4) while I can't fully read this one it does say England on it, and 5) Meakin (England).
Lastly, I scored these two white with gold trim and scalloped edge butter pats at one of my favorite thrift and antique emporiums.
These have a makers mark from Habsburg, made in Austria.
It's officially a collection!
This latest collection sits proudly among one of my oldest collections -- vintage ironstone, as well as copper cookware.
One of the great things about a vintage butter pat collection - it doesn't take up a lot of room!
I found these mini brass spoons at the same thrift and vintage emporium as the Austrian butter pats. On sale they were $2.70 each.
I've been looking for spoons for these vintage swan salt cellars for some time now, and I knew these would work.
I thought the "brass" metal spoons complimented the swans' electroplated zinc wings.
While they're not the sturdiest, they'll be perfect for salt!
I hope you've enjoyed reading about my

Charming pieces and lovely styling!
Wonderful little butter pats, I pick them up for decor and serving pieces for my dolls. They work well, and for the world traveler the Japan pieces are excellent! Fun post, I can't remember the last time I bought anything new! Sandi
