Thrill of the Hunt #157

April 27, 2026

Welcome, friends, to another fun-filled Thrill of the Hunt post where I share my latest thrifty (and usually) vintage finds with you.

I also share how I use and style the finds in my home. I hope that by sharing my thrifty finds I can motivate and inspire you to explore your own local thrift stores, estate sales, flea markets, barn sales and clearance aisles in the hopes of making your own fabulous finds for yourself. So let's get started.

First up is a layered place setting, created using four different thrifted items.

blue Solino Home hemstitch napkins

First up are water hyacinth napkin rings -- 10 for $3.09, and five brand new (!) Solino Home hemstitch linen napkins for 99 cents each, all from Goodwill. On Solino's website they're selling four for $69.99!

Underneath the thrifted chinoiserie plates are thrifted water hyacinth placemats (five total) I got from Goodwill for 99 cents each.

 Pimpernel blue spode placemat

Beneath that is a vintage Pimpernel Spode blue toile placemat from Goodwill (4 for $3.99). One of these placemats is selling on Etsy for $28.

This pattern is called the Spode Blue Room Collection, an Italian toile pattern. My find was a great one. Not only because I love it, but because I truly got an incredible bargain!

Blue Solino Home linen napkins elevate the look of this chinoiserie tablescape.

Based on 'Spode and Copeland Marks' by Robert Copeland and 'Antique Blue and White Spode' by Sydney B Williams:

These attractive, effective and durable Spode Blue Italian placemats by Portmeirion feature 5mm of cork and a superior acrylic finish with easy clean surface, stain and scuff resistance, and heat resistance to 100°C (212F) to protect your precious surfaces.

Dating back to 1816, the illustrious Blue Italian pattern is based on themes of ancient Italy, blended together from a selection of architecture and scenery from local regions of the country at this time. The composition of scenes effortlessly merge together to form the classic picture. The border is influenced by an Imari design on Chinese porcelain dating from about 1735.

original fall autumn painting tree field barn

Next up: I've become convinced that hand painted, framed art is always something worth looking for in thrift stores. Last week I found this signed, framed autumn themed painting on canvas at Goodwill for $3.09. I looked up the painter who is local in the Chicago area and she's 93 years old. How cool is that?

Who knows how old the painting is?! I love decorating for fall, and displaying this will be a no brainer.

Godinger silve art frame

I hesitated to buy this Godinger silver plate collage photo frame due to the condition of the silver plate. However, due to the gorgeous ornate raised details, I just had to bring it home for $1.99. I found it for sale on line for $20.

I love how it has an easel on the back for use as a tabletop frame. I'm debating trying to polish it versus leaving it alone. I do love patina!

blue and white porcelain bonsai pot

Last but not least is this blue and white porcelain Bonsai pot/cache pot.

While I have a few similar cache pots, this one has a unique shape.

I'm not sure what you'd call this shape to be honest, but I like it more than just your basic square or round cache pot. I paid $4.99 while it's being offered on eBay for $79.99.

Plus, it actually has drainage holes! (Most do not.) I'm even tempted to plant an orchid in there (against my better house-plant-black-thumb judgment)! So stay tuned to see what I do with it!

Well, that's it for today, friends!
