Welcome, friends, to another fun-filled Thrift Store Haul where I share my latest thrifty (and usually) vintage finds with you.
I also share how I use and style the finds in my home. I hope that by sharing my thrifty finds I can motivate and inspire you to explore your own local thrift stores, estate sales, flea markets, barn sales and clearance aisles in the hopes of making your own fabulous finds for yourself. So let's get started.
I was drawn to this Burnes 3 1/2" x 5" frame mainly because of the ornate bow on top. It was $2.97 at Salvation Army. My thought was that I could spruce it up by using Rub 'n Buff on the bow and give it somewhat of a facelift.
And here she is after the Antique Gold Rub 'n Buff transformation. I love it.
I'd say the Rub 'n Buff did a great job of sprucing that old bow right up!
Swans are SO in right now. That means they are super over-priced. Whether that be a print, painting, candle holder, planter or anything you can think of with a swan on it -- the price is high. And it's especially high for vintage swan decor like this midcentury modern chalkware swan wall hanging.
On top of the feathers is imprinted the words: 1968 Miller Studio, Inc. A family busness, it has an interesting history and story to tell. Visit The Miller Studio Story for the background.
Apparently she's one half of a duo I found on Etsy for $52.00. Guess I'll have to be on the lookout for the other one! I got her at Goodwill for $3.99. Isn't she just vintagey-gorgeous? And bonus: she came with a hanging apparatus on the back.

She currently resides in my thrifted vintage plate rack along with: 1) a vintage swan print I placed in a thrifted gold frame and 2) a beautiful gold-rimmed and monogrammed thrifted platter (which just may have started a new collecting obsession).
The plate rack hangs on the DIY vintage shutter I originally used as a French-inspired wall sconce holder. It's become one of my favorite places to showcase vintage goodies.
Last but not least is this sweet miniature bust of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart I got for 50 cents at a church resale store.
It really looks like chalkware even though it's essentially plastic! But I'll never tell.
Do I listen to classical music? Nope. But I'll never tell that, either!

I've collected a few busts before this one, including Louise Brongniart. (I later found her brother, Alexander Brongniart's, bust as well.) Who knows, maybe I'll be on the lookout for more busts of famous people in the future!
