As an avid fan and collector of vintage chinoiserie cachepots, I'm always thinking up ways to decorate with them. While you can certainly plant live plants in them, there are other ways to use them around your home as well.
Today I'm sharing four ways I personally use vintage cachepots as decor in my own home.

Here is the inspiration for my most recent cachepot decor. I found it on Pinterest, but no longer have the link to credit the owner.
Yellow (just like orange) looks wonderful with blue, so these lemons totally pop when placed inside this vintage chinoiserie cache pot. The question was, can I do this myself at home?
And the answer was definitely yes:
I've amassed a collection of ceramic blue and white decorative balls of different sizes (thrifted), plus I own a boatload of faux lemons (also thrifted)!
And the chinoiserie cachepots are also thrifted, naturally. This time I chose to skip the leaves, but think I might add some later.
That bright yellow adds such a cheerful touch to the traditional blue and white.
Most recently I shared How to Display Orchids in a Chinoiserie Cachepot. I had grand dreams of nurturing this orchid plant (despite knowing how difficult they can be to keep alive) while displaying it in this thrifted vintage cachepot.
I've always loved the elegant look that homes in decorating magazines achieve by adding a chinoiserie cachepot filled with orchids. But after trying it myself? I'm guessing most of those those magazine orchids were faux! Because I can tell you from experience they are definitely difficult to grow.

As I always say, there's nothing wrong with faux plants and flowers! So I'll definitely be buying a faux orchid plant to replace the lovely white orchid plant that died. Here are some faux orchids I'm looking at:

Another way to use a vintage chinoiserie cachepot is to fill it with a faux topiary.

I share how I did it in DIY Moss Bowl Decor.

I used moss in this cachepot topiary, just like I used moss in my orchid cachepot.
