My Bottle Drying Rack Reveal

April 20, 2015

bottle drying rack on kitchen sideboard charm bracelet diva at home

In my last post I shared with you a few different ways to use bottle drying racks
as farmhouse décor. And today I thought I'd share with you how I'm using mine. It's
really nothing fancy. Just a coffee/tea station set up on the sideboard in the kitchen.
But I think it's in the perfect place for now.

Choosing a DIY Kitchen Sign to Make

May 19, 2014

The words "wait and see" will never be music to my ears.  Patience may be a virtue, but I was not blessed with it!  Be that as it may, I have had to put my usual home projects on hold and take on a "wait and see" attitude as we prepare to move.  What will my new kitchen be like?  I have no idea!  So why do I feel the need to make a kitchen sign NOW of all times?  Because I'm a hopelessly creative  DIY blogger, that's why!  And we all know that idle hands are the devil's workshop.  So better to keep busy I always say.

I have wanted to create some type of wooden kitchen sign for a long time now, and recently I've become obsessed with the notion.  I even created a Pinterest board dedicated to it.

I'm still mulling over my options.

Should I buy precut letters at the craft store and just attach them together?

Should I pull a "Graphics Fairy" and use one of her amazing graphics?  The only problem if I go this route is that I always have a really hard time deciding which graphic transfer method to use.  None have worked particularly well for me, to be honest.  What's your favorite transfer method for wood?

Should I hold out and look for a ready-made sign at a flea market or barn sale?  This is fine if you're naturally patient, but as I said at the beginning of this post, patience is NOT my strong suit.

So looks like I'm back at square one.

I've been known to dabble in stencils, so maybe I'll make my own stencil and just paint the image onto wood.

Yes, the possibilities are endless. But isn't that what makes it fun?

Here are a few more samples for you to consider.

Notice where I'm probably going with this?
