I Won My Shabby Streamside Studio's Nate Berkus Book Giveaway!

November 19, 2012

The Things That Matter by Nate Berkus (Hardcover)

I don't know about you, but I've always loved Nate Berkus.  From the first time I saw him on Oprah, I don't know how many years ago. And I love Sandy Foster's blog, My Shabby Streamside Studio.  It embodies all that I find romantic and magical and serene.  Put the two together and what do you get? A fabulous book written by Nate that includes a chapter on Susan's ethereal cottage by the creek in upstate New York. And this girl was l.u.c.k.y. enough to win Sandy's giveaway of his book: The Things That Matter.  Thank you, Sandy!

I can see why Nate chose to include Sandy in his book.  If you're not familiar with My Shabby Streamside Studio you need to stop by for a visit.  Here's just a glimmer of what you'll find there.

{The following photos courtesy of My Shabby Streamside Studio:}

Her mountain hideaway is like a dream come true: surrounded by serene whites, drippy sparkly crystals and gossamer angel wings. A little heaven on earth.

I'm sure you've seen Nate in magazines and on t.v., including his own show.  I've always loved his down to earth personality and sense of humor.  Both qualities shine through loud and clear in this book.  It's Nate's story of personal loss and rebirth, as well a commentary on a diverse group of friends' unique and personal living spaces, as well as his own.

The book is written in such a way that Nate's true personal style becomes more apparent with each passing page. He shares his likes and dislikes about decorating, as well as what he admires about his friends' myriad decorating styles. I really mean it when I say that I had a hard time putting it down!

For Nate, it all boils down to, well, the things that matter. Buy the book to find out just what those things are. Enjoy his relaxed way of storytelling and the fabulous photos throughout.  You won't be disappointed.  I'm so glad I got a chance to read it.  I think this one's going to be on my coffee table for a long time.

My YAK Apparel winter hat giveaway ends tonight at midnight.

If you haven't already, don't forget to enter here.

Happy Thanksgiving all!

Now, if you're anything like me, you've been planning for the really cold weather that's about to hit soon, whether we like it or not. That's why I agreed to review one of YAK Apparel's fabulously stylish and {dare I say?} trendy faux fur trapper hats to keep me warm this winter!  Having grown up in the Northeast and now living in the Midwest I'd like to think I'm uniquely qualified to give my opinion on this.

Blue wool Trapper hat with partial gray faux fur and fleece lining, and with tassel pom poms.

I chose this beauty, and it does not disappoint!  Call me crazy but I especially love the pom-poms!  I remember having a hat with pom-poms like this when I was a little girl.  {And I loved that one, too.}

Their hats come in many different styles and colors, and they have beanies and head wraps, too!  Just go HERE to see them all and enter the giveaway.  Entries are low so you have a good chance of winning if you do!

I hope you're all managing to keep warm and enjoy what's left of the "fall" season.  I'm really looking forward to Thanksgiving myself.  Especially after I get all those fabulous printables printed!

Have a great week!

xoxo
