World Market Wire Lamp Inspiration

January 10, 2013

A few months ago I was in World Market drooling over some of their furniture and home goods.  While I was looking at the lamp section I stumbled across this.

Pretty cute, right?  There was a time when I wouldn't have looked twice at this because it was made of metal.  Just not my style then. But it's funny how our styles can change over time.  Today you can't turn around without seeing something industrial-like when you shop for furniture.  And I have to say, surprisingly, it's grown on me.  Once we left World Market I just kept thinking about that lamp.  So I went back. This time it looked like this.

Here we have the same lamp, with a more traditional shade.  The price?  $54.00 for the base.  $12.00 for the shade.

Again, after I left I kept thinking about it.  And lo and behold, a few Goodwill visits later here's what I found.

Surprisingly similar to its World Market counterpart.

And now for the Price {wait for it}:

God, I love Goodwill.

It took me what seemed like forever to find a shade, but I finally found one at Ikea.  The problem was finding one tall enough to cover the top of the neck.  I found many cute ones, and I even tried World Market's own burlap shade, but it, too, was too short.  I finally ended up with this.

The "embroidered" detail on the shade is so pretty, don't you think?

I'm sure I'll try other shades in the future but for now this one's perfect.  You can see how I made the topiary in the chicken wire cloche HERE.

So to recap: $54.00 (for the base only) vs. less than $10.00 for the base and the shade.  I'm pretty happy with how things turned out.

And that wicker table?  Yet another amazing Goodwill find, for another day.

Don't forget to use the "Pin it" button under my signature!

Have a great weekend!
