Time Stands Still Reminiscence Heirloom

September 15, 2010

Last Friday I posted about what's been inspiring me for Inspiration Friday over at Common Ground.  If you read it, you know I shared a Sundance Jewelry necklace entitled Trinket Watch Necklace.   Here it is.

Sorry, but that's the clearest I can manage to get the picture.  Anyway, I'd been wondering for a while (oh, about a year or so!) what I could do with an old watch of my mom's.  She passed away when I was in my twenties so anything of hers is pretty special to me.  When I thought about it recently, I realized why I love this necklace so much.  The watch face reminded me of one of my mom's old watches that were just sitting in my jewelry box.

Once the light bulb went off, I couldn't wait to start creating.  I really do love it.

Mom's old watch {plus} a vintage Saint (Padre) Pio medal {plus} a flea market rhinestone ball all add up to a smashing combination.  Especially coupled with the two-part chain ~ part rosary bead, part gunmetal.  And I always use antique brass findings and toggle clasps whenever I can.

I guess it's just another example of vintage blessings ~ my favorite kind.

hi kathleen!
oh, i LOVE your necklace using the watch- i've had some watch faces for a few years that a friend passed along to me and altho i loved them i couldn't figure out what to do- i don't have any kind of attachment on mine, but looking at yours is such inspiration and maybe i can figure something out.

very glad to have run across your blog!

also, like the music you've chosen...which one played on the post page?

There's a virtual "MP3" player in my left sidebar that plays videos along with my chosen songs. Not sure if the first song comes up each time you log onto my home page, but you can easily click the arrows on the player and see the name of any song you're interested in! Thanks for your kind words!
